Class Descriptions:

Introduction to Ayurveda:

Ayurveda literally means “knowledge of life”. It is the “sister science” of yoga, and emphasizes balance and living in harmony with nature. We will discuss the importance of the 5 elements in Ayurveda, the gunas (or qualities), and the Doshas. All of the yoga classes during this weekend will reflect different aspects of Ayurveda including balancing the 5 elements, chakra balancing and Pitta, Kapha and Vata balancing.

Intro to Chakras:

Chakras are part of the subtle energy body in Yoga and Ayurveda. Chakra literally means “wheel”. Most practitioners of yoga/Ayurveda use the 7-chakra system – 7 energy centers along our spine from tail to crown – when healing energy blockages in our subtle body. There are also many energy channels that run throughout our body. We will be doing a yoga class to balance the chakras.
